 | Ocean Drilling Research: An Arctic Perspective (1999) This report concludes that the Arctic Ocean Basin should be targeted for exploration if the decision is made to continue an ocean drilling program beyond the current program's scheduled expiration in 2003. The report reviews what is known about Earth's crust and paleoclimate in the Arctic; outlines questions about the origin and evolution of the Arctic Ocean Basin that remain unresolved; briefly reviews the technical challenges that have historically prevented deep ocean drilling at arctic sites; and proposes ways that these might now be addressed.
