In the fall of each year, the Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board sponsors the Annual Gilbert W. Beebe Symposium named in honor of the distinguished National Cancer Institute scientist who passed away in 2003. While at the National Academy of Sciences, Gil worked with Seymour Jablon to organize the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission research program on health effects of radiation exposure in Japanese A-bomb survivors. The Beebe Symposium is intended to focus on important issues related to radiation risk assessment.
